Myrtle Beach golf and some college rivalry? The thing that makes college sports great is the rivalries between colleges. Anyone who has ever attended a game between their favorite college and their biggest rival knows how awesome it is when your team wins. The Myrtle Beach Glory Days Alumni Golf Classic offers a chance to relive those days.
Sponsored by Pawley Plantation Golf and Country Club, Willowbrook Plantation, TPC Myrtle Beach and True Blue Plantation this 3 round event pits college against college in a battle for the ultimate bragging rights.
Here’s how it works. Four people, who are alumni of the same college or university, register under a school banner with a school nickname. Those four are then divided into two man teams and paired against another two man team from another school to compete in a 4-ball (better ball) competition. Your 2 man team score will be paired with the other half of the 4-man team to determine the total score for your team.
Prizes are awarded as follows:
• 4-person team: Low net and low gross (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th)
• Individual score: Low gross (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th)
• 2-person team: low net and low gross (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th)
Competitors arrive on Wednesday, August 13 for reception and pairings party. Course assignments will be done by a draw at this time. August 14, 15 and 16 will have one round of golf played each day and participants will depart on August 17.
Fees are $500 per player and $89 for non-playing guests.
