River Hills Golf and Country Club, Myrtle Beach

Located in Little River, SC the semi-private River Hills Golf and Country Club is named for the town it is in as well as the rolling hills that characterize the area. This is another of Tom Jacksons many Myrtle Beach golf courses and it is recognized as being an unbeatable combination of service, course condition and value.

River Hills has undergone some recent renovations that included:

• Enlarging tee boxes
• Reworked bunkers to improve visibility
• No blind shots to greens
• Hand placed stone bulkheads for aesthetics
• Redirected some sand hazards improving pace of play

River Hills is a parkland style course loaded with dogwoods, maples, live oaks, cypress and pines.  There is enough water to keep things interesting but most of it doesn’t influence shot making much.  Frequent 40 foot elevation changes and non-parallel fairways help to add to this courses challenge while still leaving it very playable.

The 12th is a 190 yard par 3 with a pond in front of the green with a finger of the pond straying around to cross in front of the hole.  To the left a series of bunkers lurks waiting for that stray shot.  The front part of the green is flat while the back and left slope towards the water so place your shot carefully.

River Hills has some of the most reasonable green fees among golf courses in Myrtle Beach $47 to $78.  It is conveniently located near most Myrtle Beach condos and is considered to be a must play.
