What’s Up With The Hard Rock Park?

Myrtle Beach’s Hard Rock Café Park is one that is on the brink of not opening for the 2009 season. The park, which is relatively new and has had some great reviews, is facing financial difficulty and in September of 2008, the park filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.  Now, it is on the search for a new owner, willing to invest millions in the park in new rides and marketing. As for the end of December, no investor has been found.

The Hard Rock Park is patterned after the Hard Rock Café itself, with its Rock ‘n Roll theme and atmosphere. The park is a great find, one that I’ve personally enjoyed touring right from the Beatles through to Aerosmith and everyone in between. Still, without a new buyer, the park may not open for the 2009 season, and may not open at all unless investors can be located.

If you are traveling to Myrtle Beach, keep this in mind:

• The Hard Rock Park is a fantastic location to visit, if it opens.
• You can find out if the park is opening for the season by visiting the company’s website.
• Ticket prices can be costly for the park, but it is a unique concept.

If the park does not open, there is talk of new developments in the area including new affordable residential developments, though this too would take an interested buyer. One of the largest draws away from the park right now is the beach. After all, it is a free entertainment option for visitors.
